“I’d rather support the Chinese government than an American company because their CEO tweets memes I don’t like”
The USA has a lot of issues but the USA is not responsible for genocide of Uighurs. Companies have fled to China for the cheap exploitation of their workforce for decades. Instead of migrant children in cages, China locks them up in factories. You can’t compare the two.
I’m in awe of the audacity of the person who replied to you complaining about voting and transgender rights in the United States compared to the PRC.
The USA absolutely does morally wrong things. They are not nearly at the scale or depravity of what China is doing in Xinjiang. (And, in the USA we’re allowed to criticize the government about them!)
Even further, Polestar’s CEO Thomas Ingenlath took a shot at carbon offsetting in the news release, a practice which Tesla makes billions from thanks to the sale of credits to automakers that don’t meet regulatory requirements.
If there is any crosshopping with the Model 3, it would be with the Polestar.
Other models aren’t really catching up in range. The Polestar2, while nice, costs 20% more and gets 2/3rds the range.
Is Polestar building any cars outside of China? They have Chinese ownership which makes buying any Volvo a hard decision for me, but I can't imagine buying a car built in China, let alone a premium brand, with China's human rights violations.
But he didn’t say “Model 3" he said “EV.” And even then the Polestar 2 base price is more expensive than the base price of the most expensive Model 3. So, if you’re crossshopping a Model 3 are you more likely to downsize on size and price, or buy an even more expensive car that has some signficant drawbacks against…
Yeah, the Polestar seems fine as a car but its extremely limited availability puts it below...every other BEV as a better proposition for most Americans, and it is certainly expensive. The Mach-E, e-tron, Bolt, and I’d argue even the Leaf are better options.
This is nothing but a bullshit puff piece. Volvo designs some very attractive cars, but there’s nothing particularly special about them, except that they’ve replaced Audi as the hot brand for yuppies. Volvo is coasting on a 40-year-old legacy of safety in an era where everyone’s building cars just as good, if not…
“And Polestar remains, quite easily, the best alternative if you want to buy an EV and don’t want to align yourself with Elon Musk and his crew of chucklefucks.”
“..don’t want to align yourself with Elon Musk and his crew of chucklefucks.”
So, nothing of substance was accomplished, but you’re convinced they’re really good at something. Jesus, what a waste of a click.
I’ll believe it when I see it. For now, it’s just another press release and bait for Jalopnik to complain about Tesla again.
Another Fiero owner here. I agree with the first one.
I was thinking the same thing.... plus you can get a 3800 with a supercharger already installed (nice factory look).
I like the car and if it was running and driving and reasonably well-sorted, it would be in the NP neighborhood.

Fiero owner here. These are (unfortunately) not worth that much coin.
