I see your reasoning, but in this case it doesn’t work out that way for Overwatch. Blizzard’s mantra is “Easy to learn, hard to master” and they repeat it over and over again.

I don’t really think a high barrier to entry is needed for an esports game. Also, there’s a massive, MASSIVE difference between being good at a game and great at a game.

You’re correct in both assumptions. Its a very simple game compared to some of the other esports games out there (CS:GO, Dota2, Hearthstone, Starcraft II). Each hero or whatever only has one gun with a regular and alternate fire.
