That’s a great idea! My big project for 2020 (The Great MGB GT Re-Wire and Dash Revamp) was a rousing success, though it’s only 98% done as of today. Another weekend or two and she’ll be finished up. I’d be totally down to spend a Saturday helping someone else nearby with a project, even if it’s just advice on where

Check the hydraulics, but also check the adjustment of the rear drum brakes. They don’t self-adjust on these, so as the rear shoes wear, the gap between the shoes and the drum gets bigger, so the pedal travel increases.

I’m just happy to know there’s someone named Pontus Haggstrom.

That is where I was going with it...

I want to know why on Earth they chose a Continental and not something that at least pretends to be aerodynamic. I mean, ten out of ten for style, but...

I know I rode the bus in grade school, but I barely remember it. Must not have been too traumatic.

You and me both. That thing is the coolest Morgan ever, and the coolest EV ever.

Dude, just buy a damned Suburban and stop driving like a dick.

Yep. I started on a tractor and then moved on to a Jeep. In my uncle’s words, “If you get good at this, you can drive anythin’.” Thirty-five years later and he’s right; I’ve driven (or at least maneuvered around) everything with a clutch from Porsches to Peterbilts, including the MGB GT and Chevy 4x4 pickup I

One word: Tanks.

Best smile when you say “flyover states,” boy.

Yeah, but the next day you’re up and running again. We just had a 10 inch snowfall here in Portland that shut down the whole city for nearly a week. I miss MNDOT.

So the taillights and backup lights are much better than average, but the brake lights and turn signals are only above average? Huh. Yeah, I see it now.

I have never once been embarrassed by any of the old crappy cars I’ve owned, and I have owned some shitboxes in my day. In fact, I’m generally proud of the shitboxes; they tell a story.

Nice one! And Florence is a cool little town. We take our trailer to the vintage trailer meetup at the port every fall.

After landing, though. Just disembark really really quickly, and it’s fine.

1979 Plymouth Volare coupe, slant six and an automatic. It had been sitting for two years and had weeds growing through the rust holes in the trunk. Bought it for $175, threw a battery and some fresh gas in it, and drove it home 30 miles. The transmission wouldn’t shift unless I started in low and shifted it manually,

“Beater”? This is what we pay for our nice cars. And this would do just fine in that role. Good solid W-body in nice shape, with low miles? Hell yes. And it even looks good for what it is. I’d try to talk him down $500, but even this is a decent price.

I have no interest in the car, but the fact that it’s parked next to a white Bronco is really funny...

I see a big similarity between this and the other “Tesla saved my life” video, and it points out what seems like a pretty large failing of these systems: they don’t appear to be able to anticipate anything. They only react to what is happening at any given moment.
