Maybe. A new F-350 Dually can cost $70k. Who knows how much it cost to build that Overlander style camper. The aluminum stock alone probably cost a few thousand. My rig is $140k new, but I didn’t buy it new so I didn’t pay nearly that much.

Cheaper: no. The plasti-dip cost about $60 total. Powder coating cost about $300 through my “hook up”. The real reason I didn’t just powder coat off the bat was I wasn’t sure I wanted to permanently change the finish of my Lotus Sport wheels. Once I had it like this for over a year I knew I was happy with it and…
I feel my approach is slightly more elegant.
BTW those side scoops are dipped too. I did a solid base coat, then a long distance dusting to give them a textured finish. Been like that for over 3 years now and still looks great. I also had a rear “bandit mask” with black plasti-dip, but have since removed it.
I love DipYourCar. They custom mixed some anthracite grey for my Lotus Elise wheels and with the glossifier top coat literally nobody could tell they weren’t powder coated. I kept it like that for over a year until I got tired of fixing the little knicks and edges and I just got them actually powder coated. Still, it…

Here’s another shot from later that day.
Thank you. It’s one I regret selling that’s for sure. I put a lot of time and money into it to make it look just right.
2WD with a rear locking differential.
Seriously. Let’s just call this Toyota Tuesday and just lay it all out. I’m totally down.
Here I am jumping my mostly stock suspension 2000 GMC Sierra onto hard packed dirt. I bounced twice after landing and my power steering fluid turned to foam, but the truck had zero damage afterwards. This wasn’t even the biggest jump of the day, just the only one that got caught on camera. Besides lift spindle…
My bad. 92mph on level ground. My 2008 went over 100 several times, but on a slight downgrade.
I’m still waiting for someone to actually do this. It’s been nearly 10 years since the Smart landed in the US and I’ve yet to see anything close except for some 1" spring spacers (yawn).
I’m sorry, but that last part is such a tired, typical and ignorant statement. I would rather trust my life to a Smart than say a 1990's era Geo or even a modern Mitsubishi Mirage. The Smart holds up very well in collisions and can easily keep and and surpass cars all the way to 100 mph.
You know where city cars are GREAT to drive? The city. That’s really the only place where the Smart or the IQ or even the Fiat 500 make sense. I have 4 cars, 3 of them late model, however my DD is an IQ because I have a short commute and it’s fun as shit in short spurts.
On the previous model the optional tachometer was mounted on a centrally mounted pop-up next to a matching clock. Looked like Frog eyes and wasn’t really convenient for line-of-sight. This new interior looks WAY better than the last gen.
A Smart car is 9 ft long and 5 ft wide. The Smart is shorter, but 11" wider than this drone (but not really, just look with your eyes on how much wider the drone is). How is that “a lot smaller”? Come on CAR WEBSITE Jalopnik, you’re slipping.
My guess is the x-bars are necessary to get in and out of the car. Even then that is going to be a tight squeeze.
Maybe I’m the minority here, but I bought my first new car about 20 years ago and paid below invoice for it. Since then I’ve bought over 40 cars, maybe 15 or more were new and the most I’ve ever paid over invoice was $1k because Range Rover literally refuses to take more than $500 off a new vehicle. Their typical…
Yeah. And also. Try not to. Use periods in places. That they’re really not. Necessary.
