What? they’re not running around going “hey look we’re gonna add a black lady now”. I’ve been following blizzard news alot lately and they’re NOT doing that. This article exists because they specifically asked them about it in an interview.

They have no obligation to include or represent any specific race, gender etc. They can make what they want and how they want. The last thing any form of art needs is a check list to ensure that certain peoples fragile egos are not crushed.

Imagine believing that having dark skin and being African means you’re black....

Thanks for your thoughts white man.

Click baity, controversy sparking title. Nice.

Of Overwatch’s 31 heroes, 3 are black. Of Overwatch’s 14 female heroes, 7 of these are non-white. Of those is Orisa, a robot voiced by a black woman, designed by a black girl. Sure, this doesn’t fill the extremely specific niche of black woman hero, but it really feels like nit picking at one of the few games that’s

Nice deflection.

Is it really necessary to HAVE to have a character of every possible race when a game launches, or to prioritize it so much? This feels like a really empty complaint.

I honestly love Overwatch’s diverse cast. I think it’s one of the most representative games on the market. I don’t see much use in aiming this magnifying glass one a game that genuinely has diversity. I after .org the quote in this article that “just going down a checklist” feels like pandering and is disingenuous.

They have to make a controversy about this? Geez.

And to all the alt right gamergaters in the comments: no, just because Pharah has dark skin and is from Egypt does NOT mean she is African. Educate yourselves.

Is this kind of a BS excuse? Yes.  Is he right that no matter what they do, it will never be good enough for everybody?  Yes.

What? Overwatch has the most diverse cast of any game i can even think of. It’s like the least racist game out there. what are you on about?

Just curious if Efi doesn’t count because you technically play as Orisa? I believe she somewhat controls her, or something like that. Obvi not the same as being on the battlefield herself.

B..But Phara’s black. Like am I wrong here?

Misleading title. Theres story reasons this specific character was saved for the sequel. Not black women in general. But its Kotaku so you need a catchy edgy title for clicks eh?

Battleborn died in part because it was accused of copying Overwatch. Now it looks like Overwatch 2 is Battleborn?

I can’t tell if Sojourn is a clever historical homage or puddle shallow pandering.

okay so you’re a classless fucking whore with no self worth. great. good for you. dumb fucking articles like this written by cunts like you are why nobody gives a shit when you people scream rape. you’re literally asking to be raped by 25 men.
