And the Pianist was kind of overrated.

“Greatest bands”? Well there’s the hyperbole of the month

Schneiderman was a strong AG who did a lot to help women find justice, AND he was an abusive, garbage piece of shit. Both of those facts are true. Not every abusive man is going to leave a legacy we can dismiss. Life is a lot messier than that.

Polanski should definitely sue. He’ll be made very welcome when he comes to testify in a California court. We’ll even provide him with room and board.

ScarJo’s gown, like all Marchesa stuff, is boring AF.

It’s a plot point. Writing a murder plot does not mean an author thinks murder is good. Or any other kind of plot for that matter.

Did anyone else throw up in his/her mouth a little that the court gave him a round of applause?

Not the moral center, the authorial moral center. But since the kid can present proof of the authorial intent, the teacher is still wrong.

As a lawyer (immigration, not criminal), I’ve interacted with many innocent people who pled guilty to things because their attorney advised them not to fight charges, since it would guarantee they didn’t spend any time in jail (which meant they could keep their jobs and suffer a minimum disruption of their lives).

Going to trial is a pretty huge risk, and what prosecutors will do is say if you insist on going to trial, they will charge you with every possible charge, seek the maximum sentence for each one you are convicted of, and seek consecutive, rather than concurrent sentences. Or you can take a plea deal for a lesser

Based on what I’ve read over the years, DAs are super aggressive about pushing plea bargains, sometimes even lying about what the effect of plea bargaining would be. It’s genuinely concerning that the teacher considers the stalker the moral center of that book.

You’re also a man who doesn’t understand the American legal system.

His attorney? Rudy Giuliani.

Ultimately the people around me know who I am. That is what matters.

Monae is exactly right. Free thought in itself carries no intrinsic correctness. People freely think all types of hateful, racist, sexist, etc. thoughts. And others equally freely think liberating, empathetic, and empowering thoughts.

I think Kanye just loves the feeling of making a big splash, regardless of how he does it. “Look at all this reaction I get when I say stuff like this! I must be so powerful! People are talking about me!!”

Seriously. Owning slaves was a choice. Any one of those slave masters could have chosen to set their slaves free because it was the right thing to do. And the US Founding Fathers could have chosen to end slavery when they were writing the Constitution. The topic was extensively discussed. But they chose to continue,

Being a “free thinker” in Kanye’s context means, “my ignorance is as valid as your knowledge”. It’s not.

“My whiteness got me hired, but then my professional incompetence and personal behavior got me fired” certainly has a different ring to it, doesn’t it?!?
