Yes. Hence the ‘if nothing else’. What’s your point?
Companies will often donate to scholarship funds, but I think it’s very rare that as huge a company as PornHub will award one single scholarship on its own. So yeah, it seems very strange to me.
It’s a tax write off if nothing else.
Interestingly enough, that’s one less person that will turn porn to pay for college.
I think Gawker does ok! Check out the advertising link at the very bottom of the page some time. Advertising on Gawker ain’t cheap!
The lack of info is maddening, hah. It won’t let you open a fake application without an email, and I don’t want to supply one. I’d really like more info on the site, but mostly because I’m curious wtf is going on here.
They’re now streaming leaked video of events on their website from users that has nothing to do with porn.
Between that and the scholarship, I can only assume the following:
Pornhub will eventually be the alternative google.
Like porn companies are not usually super philanthropic, are they?
Again, if they offered a normal scholarship I’d have no problem with it. I was concerned by the part where they said that scholarship applicants must submit a video, and that video COULD have nudity. That's a red flag for me with a scholarship for young students.
That’s not quibbling! If it’s targeted towards adults already in college or adults looking to go back that's a very different thing than for highschool students,
Not to quibble but this isn’t directed at high school kids. One of the selection criteria is that you must already be enrolled in college level classes.
I’m repeating myself here but I’m wondering if there is some sort of, “we won’t pay for college but we’ll pay for more pics!” thing going on here.
Pornhub is honestly pretty mainstream, and apparently hoping to be considered even more so...
Yes! Happy mark seems way to tame... Don’t let the mariage thing ruin your love for period blood and anal prolapsus, Mark!
Said in a lovely way! Agreed.
I respect your opinion on the nudity, but I think you are looking at this through the lens of that word. Since they have set a fairly decent academic standard for scholarship of this type, I would say that the nudity will probably be demerits. “...not a disqualifying factor,” is a fairly backhanded advance swipe at…
I guess I don’t see how a scholarship fund can NOT be seen as sketchy when it allows nudity in its submission/application video but perhaps i’m in the minority.
Great.
This makes it sound like men are eating our faces a la Hannibal in silence of the lambs and I'm here for it.
