That was my experience, too. The last time I ordered a bunch of stuff from them — maybe a year and a half, two years ago? Pretty much all of it went back due to being “wow, this feels/looks like a cheap piece of crap.” I think I kept one miniskirt, out of eight or nine skirts and dresses and tops.

I’ve actually ordered a lot from them, and most of time I am very happy. But when the Canadian dollar is down, as it is now.... I don’t order... I wish they would set up a Canadian Store!

polka dots… or pom poms

Velvet bathing suit? I’m having a hard time visualizing how that would work — the idea of wet, clammy velvet against the skin is not appealing.

The quality is so hit or miss. I’ve had shoes fall apart the first time I wore them, really thin fabric, and dye jobs that just smell awful. But, I’ve also gotten dresses for really great prices that have lasted several years and a pair of sandals that I love to bits. A brick and mortar store would be great to avoid

My coworker dumps on me for spending $$ at ModCloth, but I’m a 22ish and there are very few ~trendy/whimsical~ pieces I can find elsewhere in brick and mortar stores. I almost have to exclusively shop online. I really love how ModCloth offers many pieces in standard and plus-sizes. It’s refreshing to be able to tell

The sizing for ModCloth is super hit and miss, but the styles are great. I would love to be able to try things on in a brick and mortar store.

I just did a return with them - if you opt for store credit instead of a refund the shipping is free otherwise you pay. It started about a year or so ago. It is annoying, but they do toss an extra $5 your way for the hassle. I’ve returned so much stuff lately that I’ve gotten an extra $15 to $20.

Tbh, I actually didn't look at their policies that closely, but I've read so many comments in the reviews saying it isn't worth the shipping cost to return it so I assumed. If this is incorrect I have some binge shopping to do! I just favorited a ton of shit.

I think they changed it recently. Now you can either get your money back and pay for the return shipping or get a ModCloth store credit, free shipping back and $5 extra on your store credit. They’re trying to keep the dollars no matter if you return. I bet their return levels are crazy high.

a wholly inclusive label

I feel you, but the popular items (and those that are less so) tend to get many photo reviews. Those have been wayyyyy more helpful than any purely written ones. A lot of times I'll think I'm one size but I'll see three girls with my measurements and body shape (yay for photos) and I get a much better idea of what

FWIW, I find that because so many customers post their “real” pics of the clothes, it helps me figure out how it will fit. I just find someone with a similar shape and someone with a similar size. They aren't always the same person, but I have yet to have that method not work out.

I have one dress from them that has never had a problem, but two others that started to pill almost immediately, so it’s not all of their stuff! But some of it, yeah, the quality is not what it should be.

Yeah, that was weird Kinja.

All my dreams are coming true. ModCloth’s devotion to making clothes for a wide assortment of bodies makes them one of my faves of any store ver and I can’t stop giving them my money. Brick and mortar stores will bankrupt me and I don't care. MODCLOTH 4 LIFE.

are you not in the US? every order I’ve done has had free returns/exchanges

I bought my bathing suit from them and it's amazing. How is the quality on dresses?

I love their stuff. They have cute things in great sizes made of ... COTTON. Actual cotton. It’s like a miracle.

Sweet one! I was looking at “court house wedding dresses” with a friend of mine, and man, those are impossible to find. But we found more than a few that would work on ModCloth’s site.
