The Locke Lamora books are great, but so different from the kind of epic fantasy unhewn throne is. Most simialr to unhewn throne in style and quality is the ongoing Licanius Trilogy by James Islington. Lots of tropes and predictability, but with enough character to keep interest.

The series is an okay but hacky fantasy series that really leaned into a lot of modern fantasy tropes. I found it generally flat and predictable. It really reads like it was churned out quickly.

Because Ursula K. Le Guin, Joanna Russ, Samuel Delany and Octavia E. Butler would be too politically subversive for television, Arthur C. Clarke, Isaac Asimov, Stanisław Lem, Larry Niven and Stephen Baxter would be too scientific and hard science fiction for most people to like and understand, the easier works of
