The purpose of the class is to explore the effects of the word (and other words). Exploring the effects of the word involves using the word - dancing around it by saying ‘N-Word’ or anything like that entirely defeats the purpose of the class. Do you really not understand that?

In any other context, I’d side with the kids. But Princeton is supposed to be where the social and intellectual elite is educated and prepared for the burden of leading the world and this was literally a class about hate speech. The irony of students taking a class literally called “Cultural Freedoms: Hate Speech, Blasphemy, and Pornography” and then getting upset to the point of walking out based on the use of a word is staggering.
