Bourbon (Buffalo Trace for me), brandy or dark aged rum (Gosling’s, Cruzan) - NOT SPICED. It’s always too strong and throws the balance off. I like a spirit that’s not too naturally sweet for mixing with eggnog, as it’s usually plenty sweet enough.

Most recipes I have seen for making-your-own usually involve a mix or bourbon, brandy, and rum. When I buy store-bought egg nog I generally add bourbon and/or brandy (and some combination of cloves and/or cinnamon and/or nutmeg). There’s a famous recipe for quick homemade egg nog that uses tequila (but I don’t like…
As I understand it, the adaptation rights to the characters introduced in the novel Red Dragon, including Hannibal, Will Graham, and Jack Crawford, were sold separately from the rights to the characters introduced in Silence of the Lambs, which include Clarice, Paul Krendler, Jame Gumb, and Benjamin Raspail. That’s…
“Why are the good ones always married, gay, or serial killers?”
Plot twist: in season 2, she falls for a hometown hunk in the hills of West Virginia who teaches her the real meaning of Christmas.
To make it interesting Clarice will be a single gal in NYC and she’ll have to juggle her career, her friends, her nagging mom and deciding between which of three perfect suitors she wants to marry.
As a Michael Mann fan (a Michael Stann) I’m quite fond of Manhunter, so I’m more curious to read Red Dragon than Silence.
In my opinion the books are good, above average thrillers, but you’re right, it’s surprising they birthed such an extensive franchise. I would say we have Sir Anthony Hopkins to thank (blame?) for that.
“What do you do with all of your rage?” asks the first teaser for CBS’s Silence Of The Lambs sequel series
I’ve been watching Hannibal for the first time, and it’s so strange that what was basically a two-book series has turned into such a (mostly financial, sometimes artistically) fruitful franchise. I’m considering reading the books, but don’t know how engaging it’ll be, having seen Freddie Lounds’ Wild Ride depicted…
I’d watch it but, knowing that Mark Millar is making royalties off this franchise, I’d rather not.
Not looking forward to the inevitable Kingsman/Avatar crossover.
Woman Bites Dog?
I could’ve gone my entire life without ever seeing or knowing the existence of the portmanteau “funhinged”.
The announcement did seem odd. If Legendary has a deal with WB to distribute in theaters for a few months before it goes to streaming, and has sold exclusive streaming rights to Netflix, i don’t see how WB can just decide to show it on HBOmax without permission (and probably a lot of money) no matter if there is a…
Because Godzilla has international brand recognition that Netflix could easily generate into views, particularly in Asian territories.
I’ll admit I’m worried that Dune Part 2 might not get made if Part 1 fizzles out due to the pandemic box office (or lack thereof, really.) Of course that’s also contingent on the movie being any good in the first place.
I still don’t quite get why Netflix was willing to pay $250M for a direct sequel to Godzilla: King of the Monsters, a movie that barely made $100M domestic and which nobody remembers, even though it came out last year.
The despair of the proletariat.
Dunnottar Castle in Scotland has a room called “The Whig’s Vault” which measures 52' x 15'. In 1685, 167 men and women were imprisoned there for 9 weeks without sanitation.
