Oh, plotwise it makes perfect sense— it made a good episode. I'm not disputing that. I meant, if the characters were real people, Robin should sense by now that Ted has issues and she can't depend on him emotionally and at the same time remain platonic.

But much of the humor of HIMYM is that it makes itself aware of the meta aspects of the show's storytelling. Unreliable narrators, flash-fowards and backs, callback references, etc. Even in the first season, some of the best humor had to do with different events told from different points of view (like Pineapple

I don't find Robin hard to like. I think she is a strong woman who has her ups and downs like anyone.
