Conan’s SHO! Love it!
It’s harder to sell the concept of a “slow burn” show now anyway - if it isn’t an instant smash hit, adios. And sometimes even THAT doesn’t help.
Oh yeah, Throttle House! I completely forgot about them. I haven’t seen too many videos of theirs but the ones I have are absolutely fantastic as well.
I think Clarkson being a jerk is actually part of the appeal.
100%, Clarkson being an ass aside, TG worked and ONLY worked because of that specific trio of people/personalities. Very much lightning in a bottle.
Funny thing is that if these producers ever decided to actually think of a new idea, there are plenty of people out there who could do a new show that would be great and simply be a retread of Hammond, May and the other one.
Yep. It’s why most manufacturers have decided hydrogen fuel cells are the way to go for the fuel. It can be an additive, but it sucks for that.
It’s not complicated at all. EVs produce nearly zero emissions. Now if the question is how the fuel/electricity is produced, that’s a different view of things. And if we are going to explore how electricity is supplied, then we also have to look at how gas and diesel is extracted, refined, transported by ship, rail,…
I find few things more satisfying than when “those” types try to argue me that my EV is not better for the environment than their gas car, and me telling them I don’t care about the environment, I bought my car because it can haul a dresser and still rip a 0-60 in under 3s. And it costs me pennies per mile to drive.…
I’ve never heard of anyone griping about tire pollution until it came time to argue against EVs.
WTF is “wholistic”?
I wonder how much CO2 is produced when, say, casting the block of the 5.0L Coyote engine?
The answer is “Yes, EVs produce lower carbon emissions than gas in any realistic scenario.” The only reason people in big lifted pickup trucks coal-rolling EVs are asking is because suddenly they care oh so much about the environment?
You’re never going to get an objective answer for a sum total of “how bad” something is. Its not a quantifiable figure. You can quantify how much of many particular many “evils” something is, but you can’t mix and match “evils” and sum them together to get an objective figure. Especially since a lot of what you said…
These numbers also fail to include emissions released during either ICE car or EV shipping, production, and manufacturing, so real-world impact varies based on a variety of factors.
Yes, we should be moving to more mass transit and less commuting. We should strive for walkable cities and other programs that reduce our use of individual vehicles.
It’s all smoke and mirrors. The environmental impact of both types of vehicles is catastrophic. Great. So ICE vehicles are a category 5 hurricane and EVs are a category 3. Fantastic. They are both capable of wreaking spectacular damage.
More toe-in-cheek than anything
