I don’t see what Andy Reid has to do with this.

Unless you care at all about defense.
It’s not too accurate to say that Alex Smith was “the same guy” when he signed for $8M in 2012 as when he signed for $17M in 2014 and for $23M now. In 2012, he was coming off the first decent season of his career, and even in that season he was only average-to-slightly-above-average. His career passer rating at the…
Blake Griffin would have been a terrible fit for the Cavs. And there’s no way they could have put together salaries (that the Clippers wanted) to match his deal, because most of their deals are salary cap poison.
It’s interesting that they agreed on the money in principle, but don’t have a contract signed. If Smith’s agent is any good, he’ll be able to get every non-monetary perk possible, because he now has all the leverage. It’s not like Washington can back out at this point.
So it seems that Smith has been demoted from Chief to, um, Washington football player.
I’ll admit that I don’t follow Costas’s reactions to current events very closely. Most of my exposure to him has been during the Olympics and during his run as the host of Sunday Night Football, and I really disliked his monologues in both settings. Not because of his social concerns, just because of his general tone.
Yes, I acknowledge that. It’s also completely beside the point. Your argument was that the Super Bowl should be held exclusively in warm-weather cities because people don’t want to go to cold-weather cities. But the evidence shows that it doesn’t matter where it’s held as far as any practical impact on the game or its…
Even if you take that poll (that indicated that 90% of Native Americans are OK with Washington’s team name) at face value, I don’t see how that exonerates the NFL. That literally means that hundreds of thousands of people - even millions of people - think that a team is named after a racist insult.
So you’re saying the Super Bowl won’t sell out? Maybe I’ll show up there on the day of the game and see if I can get some tickets for cheap.
I agree with virtually all of his social concerns. I just don’t like to hear him talk about them.
You’re right, I remember the old NFL Films clips with the Sam Spence soundtrack highlighting how playoff football was really about how you could take a pleasant stroll in warm weather.
Those people were right, but they were talking about when Hollis hired Tom Anastos as hockey coach.
Nothing is whiter than saying a racial slur, apologizing, then assuming the recipient of the slur accepted your apology and that you’re “bros” now.
I, personally, cannot wait for teams like the Maniax, Hitmen, Rage, Demons, and Outlaws to demonstrate to my kids the value of social conformity and how to be upstanding citizens.
Jerking your arm suddenly up and behind your head is certainly the best course of rehab for a guy with shoulder problems.
On the contrary, they do a great job highlighting elements of the team’s shitty logo.
I, like many other people who grew up watching basketball in the 90s, remembers Majerle as a three-point gunner. In his best season, when the Suns made the 1993 Finals, Majerle (per game) made 2.4 of 6.3 3PA, or 38%.
I’m not sure why it’s such a big deal to host the Super Bowl indoors in a cold-weather city. Contrary to the bitching of most media members, it’s supposed to be a game, not a week-long all-expenses-paid vacation. Tens of millions of people live in cold-weather cities and get around just fine in January, so I don’t get…
It’s a matter of taste, I suppose, but I always found his Olympics broadcasts to be sanctimonious and overly heartstring-y. His persona is basically a Mitch Albom without the serious ethical concerns, which still kind of sucks.
