Honestly, based on where I teach, it’s possible they’ve never been to an unsupervised co-ed party. But, I agree with your general idea, because another question they answered “no” to was, “Have you ever been discouraged from academics because of your gender, race, etc.,?” I’m even more inclined to doubt their answer…
I teach college freshmen, and I was disbelieving but pleased that several female students, in a conversation about privilege and diversity, said they had never received unwanted physical contact because of their gender. I then realized that the chances that would remain true throughout their 4 years were quite small.
