From the WSJ artcile:

You want the ring? The RING?

I feel like john and cruella might have some insurmountable philosophical differences that would preclude them from coexisting.

This was a pretty fucking stupid idea for a movie.

The most controversial and questionable things that originate from the Left and get media coverage often comes from entertainers, artists, random citizens - people who are venting.

One is reminded of Paul Mooney -- upon noticing “The Mexican” starring Brad Pitt and “The Last Samurai” starring Tom Cruise -- lamenting whether he could get his Tom Hanks screenplay produced.

I remember when I first started teaching about 13 years ago as I just getting my PhD and the basic position was ‘don’t bang your students until you turn in your grades for them.’ Now it’s more complicated because people feel painfully aware how material and social power influence our decisions.

I’m just gonna copy and paste what I said on Facebook.

I don’t know, that might be true when talking about A-list celebrities but outside of that field there do seem to be plenty of examples of “People just kind of have this fear that otherwise decent people are going to be targeted.” People like that Teen Vogue editor who got fired for some tweets when she was a teenager

“Cancel Culture” covers everything from genuine abusers and harassers being brought to light in a society where justice isn’t enacted as long as powerful people are allowed to hide in the shadows, to various members of the left haranguing each other on Twitter for perceived slights (sometimes while being backed up by,

My favorite is Mulaney’s “What’s That Name?” with surprise game show host Bill Hader. A slam on the patriarchy that just kills.

Ah yes, the Fart-Snifffing Dignity Burglar Tactic.

Like people unironically saying, “It’s just a few bad apples...” without acknowledging the remainder of that saying is, “...Spoils the bunch.”

For these people, the cruelty is the point. They know that they can’t win on the strength of their actual pro-corporate, pro-deregulation, fuck-the-poor platform, so they have to rely on culture war bullshit to bolster their numbers. And hey, it’s not like anyone important is getting hurt, right?

I get that they don’t care and I get the point, but there are some objective standards at play here that need to be adhered to as well. Doesn’t matter who’s performing a given action, it’s either OK or it’s not and needs to be called out regardless.

It’s absolutely hypocritical for news outlets to give Trump a pass and

If they default, the banks lose money but gain property by repossessing the farms. That was one of the ways the banks made a lot of money in the Depression. Take the land, sit on it until the economy picks up , and either sell it, lease it, or open a farming department and hire farmers directly.

Is this interview tour going to be a series of exclusives where the white men who cover City Hall and politics in general are left out in the cold and have no ability to report on civic matters to their readers? Is Lightfoot going to POC reporters to tell them about how she’s going to screw over all of the white

I don’t believe in alien encounters, but neither of those points makes sense.

Super awesome that someone can live with this for 13 years and declare themselves the healthiest they’ve ever been. As a kid growing up in the 90s that still seems like a science fiction future scenario to me.

Ah, an article about Joe Rogan.  Much like articles about Andy Dick, this prompts me to note that News Radio was the career high for everyone on that show.  Except Stephen Root who only gets better.
