I’d argue that “Jurassic Park” does follow the “Jaws” template somewhat in that we only see harmless dinosaurs in the first half. The T-rex doesn’t make an appearance until the middle of the film and even that is done with a lot of build-up: They drive by the area earlier during the day and see nothing, then later

I love this entire damn movie, but this moment kills me.

I was born late ‘75, and my mom went to see Jaws during her second trimester, so I almost saw its original release.

“Here’s to swimmin’ with bowlegged wimmin.”

Should I still tip 20% on my hot dog sandwich if I hated Joker?”

What’s so amazing about ‘What We Do in The Shadows’ is that the characters get better the longer you know them, even the supporting ones. Also (going vague as to not be spoilery), Guillermo’s potential arc is my favorite cliff-hanger of any series this year.

I’m not saying you’re a douchebag, but “I can’t believe you didn’t get my obvious joke, you moron!” is what a douchebag says after they’re called out on being a douchebag.

Didn’t come across as a joke, sorry.

Such nonsense. What the fuck is even the point of Netflix anymore if they are just going to be Fox 2.0. This show needed more time to grow and find its sweet spot. It was still too manic at times but I actually find myself quoting riffs from it all the time- “Sweet freedom!”

I hope they find more ways to keep it going.

I just felt like something was off about the delivery of the jokes. Classic MST3K had this slacker vibe to it, and the jokes were delivered in a mostly casual, offhand manner, dry and effortless-seeming.

When one of my students writes an A paper the first comment it ‘Preetttty Niiiice’

Yeah the first new season in particular felt so manic that it was off putting . The couple movies I caught in the last season were better and they were very slowly finding their groove, but the best lines still didn’t have enough room to breathe.

I should preface this by saying that I really like Fury Road. I’m a fan of it.

OK, now I realize I have an infantile understanding of food.

That’s a pretty hypocritical stance for “Bimbo Bakeries” to take!

Burn the witch! Burn the witch! How dare he, a master of the realm from which these movies arise, not worship at the altar of our bespandexed demigods! EXCLAMATION POOOOOOINTS!

Testify Alan Moore! TESTIFY!

I had my first panic attack at 34.

I legitimately thought I was having a heart attack, and was convinced I was about to die.

Definitely went to the ER for it.

...once they got a good look at me, my vitals, and my rapidly-falling (back to normal) blood pressure, the docs told me I’d basically had an unprovoked freakout.

so now this column is what remains of deadspin despite that it was never on deadspin and has no connection to it?

Nobody made you defend Troy because nobody should ever, ever defend Troy.
