I'm a Houstonian and don't really have a problem with it. "Texas Titty Twisters" was apparently deemed too lowbrow for some reason. I've always thought Oakland "Athletics" was kind of dumb. It was okay on it's own. I can't speak for all the sequels, but I didn't mind the first one overall. It just didn't do the book justice. That being said, the mech suits in Tom Cruise's "Edge of Tomorrow" looked a LOT closer to what Heinlein described.
