Did those shows feature snarky self-aware, smarter than most characters like Daria?

I’d like to take this opportunity to make a perfectly valid suggestion.
Since writers, producers and directors have transformed traditional
male characters like the Ocean’s thieves, the Ghostbusters, the Doctor,
and Captain Marvel into women wouldn’t this be the perfect time to
transform Daria, Jane, Jodie and their

I’ve just started reading A Universe from Nothing by Lawrence M. Krauss.

I just finished a mini-binge of Graham Greene novels that were made into movies.  The Third Man, A Gun for Sale (made into This Gun for Hire) and Ministry of Fear.  All three were worthwhile reads from an author I had not read much of before - only Travels With My Aunt.

You don’t have to think - it’s how the movie ends.

But how do you have a flat hurricane on a curved Earth? Or visa versa, I forget which.

I lived in Coney Island when a hurricane flooded everything between the Atlantic Ocean and Gravesend Bay. People would carefully remove their shoes and socks, roll up their pants legs and carefully walk through calf
deep water over sidewalks with everything from animal feces to broken glass. When people gave me a hard

I thought that routine was hysterical but now I live in Georgia where they recently introduced the blinking yellow turn arrow into a state where the drivers don’t understand the green turn arrow.  The green arrow comes on and the guy at the light stares up at it in deep puzzlement.  “WHAAAAT DOOOESSS THE GREEEEEN

Phil, oh dear God, Phil. I’ve wanted him dead from the first episode when it turned out that this businessman, husband and father was a success despite being a close up magician cheerleader with a desperate urge to mate with his mother in law. I liked him better when he was on Law & Order as a guy who kidnapped a

Certainly no doubt it was all in his head.

Is it petty of me to complain that while D’Souza promotes fascism in America, the commenters are ragging on his for his choice of a color palette?

Seven Brides for Seven Brothers is nearly perfect.  In the words of Oscar Madison “Seven weddings and no one is objecting”.

I’ve just started watching “A Colt is my Passport” (Japan, 1967). So far a very
American style gangster movie. Two hit men on the run after an assassination. There are no real Japanese elements. Not even the conflict between old and new Japan as you see is Akira Kurosowa’s movies like “The Bad Sleep Well” or “Stray

I bailed on LMoE after like two episodes when I realized he wasn’t the last man on Earth. Since then, just from promos it appears the Earth is more crowded then before.

Is this true or is it “Nein, Nein, Nein”?

Profit is step 3. We still don’t know what step 2 is. But in a country as paranoid as the US, it’s bound to work.

Just read that Kevin Can Wait has been deservedly put down. Three episodes in a row where Kevin James insisted on moving food trays and then splashing the food everywhere like a bad silent comedy and crippling at least one woman by forcing his dancing on her. The show was seriously not funny. Also they jumped ahead a

True. I have never found him to be funny

I would love to see that “... sizeable list of great films that are remakes of mediocre films.” I mostly remember it the other way around, with producers trying make money with inferior remakes, reboots, sequels, prequels and TV shows based on films that should have been left alone.

It is as I suspected. The original, in which a man tricks a woman into being his slave by pretending she’s his wife was criticized for slavery and near rape, but make the man the victim and “... gender-swapping the two lead roles does relieve much of the discomfort of the original’s more fraught dynamics, ...”. Does
