@davecort: Email addresses aren't mandatory for Gawker accounts (at least, mine hasn't had one attached for a while), so an automatic reset would likely lock people like me out of our accounts permanently.

@prettysmart: Gawker pushed a few generic network-wide notifications out sometime Sunday afternoon and has had banners prominently displayed at the top of every site since sometime Monday, I think Monday morning, so the claims of Sunday notification are accurate. The notices on Sunday were how I knew about the

@infmom: Yeah, I think the ones that keep asking because they are either forgetful or think they can always ask you are the ones the pre-made guides are really aimed at. Or, at least, they seem like the right kind of target for them, regardless of the intended audience.

@Dipso: Try running it windowed in some form. I usually run games windowed with custom resolutions because I hate how fullscreen apps work with two displays, and it remembers what monitor I had the game on last. As a bonus, alt-tabbing is less obnoxious this way.

@Whitson Gordon: This is way off topic (sorry) but for a moment, I thought you had Amarok on that phone, and I was really excited.

@chiaspod: I love the second one, it sounds like one of those stories about internet outages in companies. You probably know the ones I'm talking about, where, when the network comes back online, the sysadmin gets flooded with emails saying "The network's down" and "I can't send email"

@infmom: I think it depends on the person and on how it's presented, honestly. My mother's easily offended by things that seem trivial to others, so I'd probably never try it on her, but I can see how some people would appreciate it, especially if presented in the right way.

@nctrns: Yeah, it's a huge mess and it really sucks that the sites that weren't involved are getting hurt over it. I'm not really surprised about LH readers being upset, since it's the site that hosts the articles about password security, good practices, and so on. There is probably a larger percentage of

@snail: No problem. I did the same thing even though I probably only needed to change my Gawker password.

@SmallAffair: Someone else can probably verify, but I'm not sure you should assume you're safe just because of using FBC. I think some info is still available, just not passwords, if you use it.

Now playing

@MattyMattMatt: Maybe I just have a twisted sense of humour, but I didn't see the peasants bit as anything more than a joke or wise-ass remark. No worse than jokes I've made* (sometimes about friends, even) in the past. Of course, I find it hard to take seriously when the first thing I think of when peasants are

@ClickClickThud: Your mileage may vary, since this is probably excessive, but this is what I did:

@snail: To put it simply: no, you can't, so just change everything to be safe if you think it might have been something you used elsewhere.

@bbfreak: In case you actually check again for a response (since you asked questions), I'll try to cover some of it:

@nctrns: If you stay logged in, visit your user page (here: [lifehacker.com] ), click "settings", and then set "Comments View" to "all" and "Reply view" to "Expanded", that should do it for you.

@PrairieMoon: If I promote without replying, it's either because the comment is insightful and had thought put into it, or because it has information that seems useful in the context of the article or discussion thread. Even if I don't agree with the content, if it seems like an honest, intelligently-written comment,

@drjayphd: Now With Hot Gossy Action!: You could try Zim, which is basically a notebook with wiki syntax. It has a plugin that uses bzr for version control. Both Zim and bzr have Windows ports, so it may be worth a try.

@TheFu: Hopefully, but somehow I doubt it would hold up. Still, it would be great if it does.

@TheFu: Just replying to throw in my support for your list of priorities, which is spot on, in my opinion. Stability and data integrity are far more important than playing with the bleeding edge on production systems. (If you're just testing things on a spare machine, that's completely different)
