@iamjames: I'm not interested in a platform war discussion, so I won't get into most of the points, but I do want to say something about your first point: you either have very specific/niche needs or you haven't actually taken a good look at what software is available in Linux.

@TheFu: Sorry about posting double, but you mentioning Command & Conquer amused me. I recently got the urge to play a couple old games I haven't touched in a long time, and I've noticed that I actually have less trouble running these old apps in wine than I do in Windows.

@TheFu: Short answer: I don't.

@r0n0c: Don't let it eat chocolate, no matter how much it seems to want it. Chocolate is very bad for a dog and can eventually kill it.

@lazymoomin: If you don't want to go to the 17", get the 15" and spring for a separate flat panel display, preferably as large as you can get.

@Mr.Gawn: Really obvious one that seems to get missed a lot: turn off or replace incandescent bulbs.

@Jimmy From The Block: If you want to clear your terminal, save yourself some typing: ctrl-l (^L) will do the same thing as `clear`. I'm the same way about clearing because it makes it easier for me to read output from the last command done if I clear prior.

I like how the "clone" is taller than the real thing.

TL;DR version of this article for the lazy or mentally challenged:

I listen to nearly any type of music, but when I'm concentrating on something I usually prefer playlists of heavy metal and classical. Instrumental soundtracks and techno can be good, too.

That last part brings back memories.

For some reason, all I see when I look at that picture is Cyberman headgear.

@maztec: You could always do both and then combine them into a pseudo-HDR picture! Seems to be the popular thing these days.

@adam50: JPEG would only be 8bits per channel, so you're going to lose something in the highlights with it. Spot on about RAW, as far as I know, though. Only bad thing about RAW in my opinion is the filesize per photograph is insane.

@( . Y . ): Good point about the digital, though it's a problem with both the low and the high, not just the high. Anything that works in 8bit per channel colour is going to have problems at either extreme.

It's a shame Toshiba doesn't have a higher share; in my experience, the company builds rock-solid computers with minimal crapware pre-installed. I've had good a experience with Lenovo as well, so I'm curous how big a chunk of that 'Other' Lenovo takes.

@xSix: There are two categories of manslaughter: voluntary manslaughter and involuntary manslaughter.

$0, I quit buying consoles years ago. (My last one was a Gamecube not too long after it came out)

@destryer: Is that what's really on his lip in all those pictures? It all makes sense now.

@Arken: Hey, that would probably be an interesting work environment, to say the least.
