I’m aware that men on the internet are trash, but every so often a female friend will show me something that makes me realize just how trash that can actually be.

One of the many reasons I frequent Jalopnik is the multitude of writers that post regularly, many of whom are female. I think it’s one of the site’s best features, frankly. It sucks that you have to deal with this kind of behavior, but I applaud all of you for continuing to do your work despite it.

But the way in which women and female-presenting people get trolled and abused online is different. Their experience, expertise and advice gets discounted on the basis that they are women.
