That may be all fine in paper, or even show in that episode or the other; but the m.o. of the Master has always been grand evil schemes for the sake of being evil without any real motive other than power for the sake of power. This is the episode I've seen that has more of motive or even personality than ever, but he

But you do know, only there's still mystery around him. But the Master is nothing more than cardboard at best, with no real character around him.

To be fair, it was criticized in that review. But yes, that was never more than a frail attempt at giving the new Doctor some personality (that then constantly changed).

The same happened to me. When I started watching Eleven I could never watch Nine and Ten with the same eyes ever again.

I know everyone will have said "but you have to absolutely watch [..] before you give up!" so I won't go there. What I can say is this, concisely:
What this series offers is some fun peculiar way of experiencing a TV show and life, in general. It doesn't take itself too seriously, because internal logic or

Ah, the 5th Doctor, what a great incarnation. Really loved you're review of the mini episode as it mirrors what I thought about it at the time.

Hm, let's see what it can manage. If it fails, you know, the machine and Samaritan will share eyes and ears. Eerie.

That's great that you could keep going! This show keeps surprising me in more ways than one and I'm really glad I didn't give up on it in season 1, hope you an be glad you stayed too. :)

Oh, it definitely hasn't told Root (she says so all the time). You may be right but I would only agreed if the machine had a plan to be able to modify or affect Samaritan really very fast; fast because if not it'll lose every asset it has. Though, if you were right then all the people it is gathering would make much

Agreed, though it didn't take me long to start understanding how completely different Finch is and, seeing how deeply I had Ben Linus ingrained in my head, it's really a testament to Emerson's acting skills.

I really feel the machine as one more character of the story and now just a plot device or agent for things to happen; this sort of revelation feels dangerous too, as it must feel to Finch, because it clearly shows the more the machine is put in peril, the more it learns about extreme measures. And will it learn to

It's plausible, given the show's history; but considering the threat it poses to Finch I prefer to hold the opposite opinion. I like the Finch/machine dynamic and think nothing merits putting Finch in harm's way in the machine's eyes.

Having read the review on the Originals (yes, I watch rubbish shows like that, I'm trying to quit) this episode was all the more perfect for me because of the way it handled its own history. More often than not, at least in my experience, shows that kill a major character immediately start to try and forget it, like

Oh, definitely. But he's already begun doing the damage killing him would've avoided.

By the end of the episode the congressman has convinced the other congressman to do it, which shouldn't have happened. Even if he changes his mind or is attacked with scandal, he would just become an "obstacle to be removed".

Maybe this whole thing will shed further light on Finch's past.

I watched the final scenes in the island of LOST's 3x22 and could not believe how fully I believe Emerson in both roles and how distinctly different they are. I think this show would not be the same without him.

Well, things have certainly changed since God Mode, so I don't know how much this is still true, but the machine has always told the team what they need to know through numbers. Timothy Sloan, the 38 HR numbers, Arthur Claypool, Owen Matthews, Cyrus Wells, Maria Martinez and Roger McCourt, all numbers in season 3 the

The capping point of this episode was, for me, the fact that without Heard the guy Greer was trying to convince would've said no. It was the show saying "it is on you".

Oh, that was me, if that's what you mean. Seemed everybody was talking about it so I though I'd just post it. I was also interested in finding out how to post pictures in comments so it was really a win-win. :)
