Before I had a nice big empty white wall, I used wrapping paper. More reflective and less wrinkly. Also cheaper than a sheet.

am i missing something here? does it do OCR? otherwise, what's the point?? cameras and phones use JPEG, which is just as ubiquitous as PDF, and if you have to use a computer anyway (to upload the photos) then you can convert a JPG to PDF with any number of free programs. plus you get to avoid the bloated acrobat
