They have a small medical center and medical staff on board. About equivalent to a “quick clinic” MedExpress sort of place. A doctor or two and a few nurses. These days possibly an NP or a PA. Anything more serious and they will either get you airlifted or put you off at the nearest available place or the next stop.

I’ve been on an airplane where somebody croaked.

Every big cruise ship has a morgue, a jail, and medical facilities. It is inevitable that you will need all three given they have the population of a small town between the passengers and crew. And given the demographics of cruise ship passengers, they die all the time. And get drunk and do stupid things all the time.

Modern cruise ships have at least one clinic, one morgue and one jail.

I guess it’s better than wrapping them up in their hammock with a cannon ball tied to their feet and dropping them overboard.

All cruise ships have morgues. It is a requirement.

People die on cruises. People die at the Indy 500. People die at company picnics. This is a non-story, except that the writer does not like cruises.

One of the smokestacks was actually a kiln...

I have a friend who worked at the local coroner’s office. It was his job to get the bodies, when necessary, from cruise ships when they were in port. They do have morgues as it happens all the time. Put a bunch of people with underlying health conditions into a disease factory amped up with poor food and alcohol? You

No, and you shouldn’t either. Anyone with access to dealership computers would be able to print a quote invoice like that that says an oil change for a 2001 Camry would cost $71,000. Should I trust that? What you shared is a picture of a piece of a paper posted to an internet site where users love to be outraged.

Think you need to check your estimations with the facts on a Prius and battery life.

There are companies that can rebuild your battery and the electric motor. Some companies sell whole packs refurbished already and some are selling modules for rebuilds. As they get more common more of the companies will exist, it was the same for ICE.

Dealership service departments are rarely any more than parts swappers. They are not in the business of rebuilding anything as a general rule. I have no doubt that as far as BMW is concerned, that battery is a single replaceable part. That you can theoretically open it up and muck around inside is neither here nor

Right to Repair is vital to consumers for keeping vehicles on the road longer. Without it, cars become throwaway one-time-use items as dealers will be able to charge far more than the value of the vehicle for otherwise menial repairs.

The battery pack replacement cost (with labor included) is around $15k for a Model 3 at Tesla. You can find used packs on eBay for much cheaper and probably hire some someone to replace it for you. And that pack has twice the capacity of the i3's.

I’m sure independent mechanics are more likely to be aware of stuff like this than normal people. In defense of service writers and dealership mechanics, they may not be allowed to offer these kinds of solutions.

There was a similar story a couple of weeks ago that made the rounds where an owner of a Hyundai EV was quoted the price of a new car to replace the battery after it was damaged when he drove over a curb (he was vague about the details). Every anti-EV YouTuber was all over it.

There are tons and tons of electronic module repair companies around nowadays. They take the widgets and doodads that make modern cars work and actually repair them when they fail.

Its a dealership thing,... I’ve seen plenty of situations where a dealership will tell you that you need a new 5 figure engine whereas an independent shop would offer you the option to rebuilt it for a fraction of the cost.
