Your headline says “Hertz Is Selling Its Fleet Of Rental Tesla Model 3s For Cheap”. You specify “more than 100" for under 25,000 and their web site shows 356 total Teslas for sale.   This is not “selling it’s fleet”.

This is an assumption, but I think the high repair costs are attributed to having to use the Tesla Service Center, and not whatever repair shop Hertz typically uses.

A bit over 100 of the 100,000 they were reported as buying is not "selling their fleet".

Someone else mentioned this, but these probably weren’t even traditional rentals, but a fleet used for ride sharing.

Fairly unlikely. Model 3s have gone 300k on the original battery. And you can check the battery health through the software. Plus, it’s still under warranty until 100k miles. I’d be more worried that the suspension and interior are worn to shreds.

Unless you need more than 80% of original capacity, the battery will probably outlast the car it’s in.

Hey, cheap Mercs and Jags and Land Rovers would like you to know that they’re in that race as well!

Good luck getting into an AWD 3 series for $45k

I mean it is actually a legit competitor and the two cars are very frequently cross-shopped, so yes.

These things were being discounted to $35k at the end of last year, and qualified for the $7500 credit. Some states (like NJ) also offered $4k on top. for a total of $11.5k in credits. That puts a new one at $23.5k. I’m not sure $16-18k for something with 80-90k miles on it is a deal.

That said, I have extended family

And I forgot to also say, and maybe this is even the most significant reason, they all had less than a year until they were out of warranty.

Yes... sort of. EVs have a fraction of the moving parts of ICE vehicles. This isn’t really an apples <=> apples discussion. An EV is much more resilient to being driven hard than an ICE vehicle. If the interiors are in good shape (lack of rips, tears, weird smells etc...), then the next concern is brakes. Brakes are

At 2-3 years old, Hertz is selling tons of ICE vehicles as well.

keep in mind that Hertz is jettisoning these Model 3s due to their frequency of faults and high repair costs when damaged

The fads that are the worst are those that put other people in danger: Bro Trucks with huge lifts, stanced cars with enough camber to seriously affect grip, tinted windshields... basically anything that negatively interferes with visibility, handling, or braking. Everything else; knock yourself out. It’s your money.

That’s a common factory thing too.

Non functional extra exhaust pipes. All you are doing is paying to add extra weight to your car.

Squatted-trucks.

Huge wheels combined with tires with such low aspect ratios, it’s as if the vehicle has big rubber bands stretched around the chrome abominations:
