I will say I greatly disliked Star Lord in this movie. Others have pointed out how he didn’t seem to have grown at all, or how he was the butt of every joke. I tend to agree. He is the very worst representation of a whiny man child. His reaction to Thor is so childish that a 12 year old wouldn’t resort to it.

It’s interesting that I gave up on the graphic novel at the same point. Although in my case it was really that I felt the world was too bleak. It was too depressing, I felt nothing good would ever come to this world, and I needed to get out.

No he doesn’t. Part of the problem is that the woman he is rescuing has a sweater underneath her jacket and it has a blue sleeve that blooms out of it and looks a lot like his suit. Her hand goes right to his shoulder. At the same time he is moving his torso/kicking his legs.
