I don't know if minecraft was the first to do this but I think of this as a smaller, more niche game, getting a chance to get to market.

I tried rift, it's a very pretty game and they take good elements from WoW and Warhammer online etc.. and deliver a very polished experienced.

When you pay $8.5 Billion I think you keep your options open and try not to marginalize your investment.

Sometimes when people move on to other projects new more "junior" guys get their chance to show what they can do. In a company like blizzard i'm sure that talent can pleasantly surprise us.
