Actually I did. I was a little disappointed in that they turned Lugo and the others into semi-likable, or at least semi-relatable characters, when all of them were pretty much the definition of "pieces of shit,"  but the movie did stick to the facts much, much more than the vast majority of Hollywood movies.

I actually got to see this and it's a pretty good movie. If Bay's name isn't attached it gets a solid B-B+ from the AV Club.

Also, how did you miss Soul of the Game?

The Sandlot and Major League are GREAT fucking movies. Not in the same way as, say, 2001 or Raging Bull, but they are great for what they are.

I love most of the movies you named.

You can tell who here's actually tasted Sonic, and who just wants to make fun of it for being something poor, fat, white people eat….

Maher's a dipshit. But he's also very often correct. Liberals are the worst back-stabbers. They throw Maher and Olbermann and other outspoken libs under the bus because they reflect precisely what it is that most liberals lack: balls. Their outspokenness  while often misguided, is preferable to all the cowering

"Judging narrative works solely on the presence of Plot Holes is the last refuge of a scoundrel… and an idiot."

I've been defending this season from others, as well. Although I will say that it's not as good as the other seasons and the reason for that is because there is more of a focus on plot than on the characters. The reason why you feel like nothing happened, even though stuff did happen, is because the big secret of the

Oh Christ. Film Crit Hulk is the most overrated critic. I fell for his shtick  too, until I realized he was like that one friend everyone has who no one really likes because he HAS TO KNOW EVERYTHING and you don't, obviously.

I stand corrected….

I'm glad to read this kind of article coming from the AV club, whose writers too often come across like 98-percent of the rest of the "smart, hip, introspective" pop-culture internet writers, who always think they're taking a contrarian stance, when merely they're preaching to a rather large, vociferous choir.

Well, he did throw Janet Jackson under the bus after the whole "wardrobe malfunction" thing and literally cried at the Grammy's about it after he tried to be tough in interviews by saying "we're always trying to surprise people." That suggests to me he is a coward and a pussy.

Still the only Clooney-directed movie that is endlessly watachable.

Actually I used to get Livingston and Kevin Corrigan mixed up.

Barboza wants to have a word with you:

True, but that's also a whole different discussion, I think. I could be wrong, but when someone calls a film a "bad adaptation," I assume that person feels that the filmmakers didn't stay "true" enough to the source material.

Yeah, but Killshot was a pretty straight adaptation. The book is one of Leonard's slower, less humorous works. I actually liked both the book and the movie well-enough.

That's my problem with Sean Penn. Everything that dude does is "flashy" and people think he's great for it. But if you've ever seen The Falcon and the Snowman, it should be easy to see that Hutton's, quiet, slow-burn, inner-turmoil performance is a much more difficult role than the spastic, loud, drooling coke-addict

Yeah, it's weird because usually when changes are made from a book to a movie, they're made so to make exploring certain themes or subtexts can be a little easier. You combine some characters, leave a few things out, but the gist of the story and its meaning is still left in tact. I'm speaking primarily about good
