Last year after grilling some cedar plank salmon, I googled around to see what I else I could grill on a cedar plank. One of the best pork chops I’ve ever had was on a cedar plank. I have the exact recipe handy, but the cedar+pork combo was amazing. Look it up and give it a whirl!

While this is an option, I wouldn’t use a Roth for an emergency fund. You’re robbing your retirement of beautiful tax-free money. Try your best not to touch that money. I’ve had to do it in the past, and hopefully will never have to ever again!

So, we’re turning a $2k computer into an alarm clock? “What time is it honey?” “Hang on, let me turn on my laptop, give me a minute...”

WIPES. I keep some single-packet wipes in my briefcase, desk drawer, and also my carryon bags. One Wipe Charlies from the Dollar Shave Club are some of the best (for dudes at least!).

Not many people know Malort. Are you in the Chicago area? Only bring Malort to a party if you want to unfriend them all...in person :) (kidding). I personally don’t mind Malort, and it’s a running joke with a few friends where we do a shot of it to “celebrate” various milestones.

My personal favorite amaro is Averna,

The government allowed that. Trust me, I don’t like that the government hands out special tax deals to big companies (and local companies to stay in a certain state), but stealing $5 vs billions doesn’t matter. It’s still tax evasion.

So instead of stealing from the government (tax evasion), he stole from the patrons that kept him employed? Awesome. Sounds like a real winner. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you, pun very much intended.

So you wholly support a low-income person from stealing from the government? Doesn’t matter if it’s $1 or $1 million, it’s still tax evasion. Just because someone “gets treated like shit” it doesn’t give them carte blanche to go stealing from others and get away with it.

Rusty, 2k or 200k, it’s still tax evasion. That’s like stealing a 75 cent candy bar, right? It’s only 75 cents, it’s not like you’re stealing a $50K BMW! You’re justifying a low-income person stealing from the government and fellow Americans.

As a self-employed person, I pay an extra 7.65% in payroll taxes, so yeah,

I can see why you thought the keys were the important thing here that people were forgetting. I first thought the same and wondered how many people out there were forgetting their keys (and how far would you really get without them?). The title should have read “Stash Important Items Under Your Keys So You Don’t Leave

A solo(k) will have higher expenses than a SEP. If someone isn’t looking to do more than $55K/year, a SEP is a cheaper option. Although, one nice thing about the solo(k) is you can do a much larger Roth contribution.

Another big benefit is that you can contribute the maximum to a Roth IRA as well as some money into the SEP. You otherwise couldn’t max out a Roth and a Traditional IRA. Even if you’re not looking to do more than $5,500 initially, and you’re just starting, it’s not a bad idea to go straight to a SEP instead of a

I’d be completely fine if sit-down restaurant pricing was raised 25% across the board and tipping went away. I still, always always tip 20% and round up. Last night, we went to dinner at the place where we got married last year. The manager ended up giving us a 50% discount, plus a free glass of champagne. I still

Wow, I hadn’t heard of this before, but good to know. Another argument for tipping on the card and not cash in this case.

The apps are a double-edged sword. Yes they cost a restaurant/business money, but it can also help them get exposure to new business/patrons and new revenue. It’s not like a restaurant is forced to use it, so if a restaurant is only staying open because of a few phone apps, they likely have some other issues going on.

If you consistently get a large refund every year, there’s a better way. You’re just giving the government an interest-free loan for a year. Instead, increase your allowances on your W-4 (you might be “claiming” 0, 1, or 2 now. Add one or two more). Especially if you have any debt, especially credit card - the money

This is why the whole concept of tipping sucks. There shouldn’t be gray areas like this or “unwritten rules” about tipping 20%. And the other unwritten rule about tipping on the post-tax amount and not the pre-tax (love that one!). I always tip 20% at sit-down restaurants (after-tax), even if the service is iffy

I agree and started doing the same thing for the same reason. Even though smaller shops still factor in the 1-2% processing fee into their pricing, I’d rather put the extra cash in their pocket instead of the CC company (even though I end up getting some of it back in rewards).

Many of the “fixes” are a little cheesy, but if you have kids that break toys often, go ahead and get some of this. I’ve fixed Godzilla figures, train tracks, a handful of other little toys, plus nose pads on sunglasses, and added little dobs of this stuff on the bottom of poorly-designed, round-bottomed remotes

Beth - thanks for posting this. I work in the health insurance field and wasn’t aware of this until about a week ago from a personal experience.

The issue in this article isn’t necessarily the fault of the insurance companies, but the pharmacies themselves. I just had this come up last week. Normally my generic Rx is
