I’m not saying it’s the best ship design in the universe, but it makes sense. I mean, it LOOKS topheavy but it’s a spaceship. In space. That doesn’t matter. It wasn’t designed to ever land, so gravity isn’t a consideration. They made it so the saucer section can evacuate all the civilians, which is sensible, even if

When we first see one, it isn’t wartime though. The ships... sort of make sense as piece time ships. Why your go-to transit during peace-time is a fighter, I don’t know. But it is transporting the sort of people who think slicing people’s limbs off to disable them is better than carrying a stun-gun, so... I guess it

I think the franchise died with Adams, basically...

That being said, Salmon of Doubt is hilarious. Not so much for the Salmon of Doubt stuff, but for the anthology of lead up essays before it. I’d never read any of them before, and was amused, but not especially surprised, to find that Douglas Adams read a lot like

Though it did happen later in the original timeline. (Of course, without a particle accelerator explosion, the need for the Flash is dramatically reduced. And Thawne also makes it clear that Oliver managed okay during that time without Barry)

EDIT: Yeesh, sorry. Thanks to this... interesting way of organizing comments,

To be fair, Oliver is zoning out to relive much shorter and less interesting things these days, so I think he’s getting better.

Oh god the Harry Kim episodes. My brother and I used to have a Bad TV night back when the first season of Agents of SHIELD was on. If there was no new AoS that week, we’d just pull up Voyager on Netflix and select any episode about Harry Kim. It never failed to produce something horrifying.

Unlike Esebian, I’m gonna recommend SF Debris, though it does give full plot summaries with spoilers, and, while it offers real reviews, it’s also a comedy show. But if he has issue with an episode, he’ll explain why in detail and back up why he thinks it’s a problem.

Exactly. Natural is not good. So human modification in “natural” ways can be just as dangerous as so-called “unnatural” ways. So picking on GMO crops is silly. I agree.

I think you’re close, but a little bit off. It’s not religion. And I say this as a staunch atheist. I’m no religious apologist. It stems from the same thing that gives religion power: The illusion of control. People hate science because science tends to erode the idea that you can remove the possibility of bad things

“Natural” isn’t always good though. Cross-pollinization can and has lead to dangerous crops, and gene modification can and has lead to perfectly safe crops. When you mess with the DNA of a plant there is a chence you will make something dangerous no matter if you do it in a “natural” way or not.

I’ve only played the first two games, but I’m with you there. I like the present day stuff... but... well from the very first game, the present day material had Desmond walking, not running, walking, around a room so crazy large that 99% of it will never, ever be relevant (but you can’t know that unless you check it

I always love how Giles gets it right in one without realizing.

I’m glad someone nominated The Ballad of Barry Allen, because I’m kicking myself for forgetting about it...

Well. ... That plan at making sure no one saw Xena as a lesbian failed miserably.

Nah, you don’t have to be sorry. There was nothing wrong with your post, things have changed a lot... for some people. It’s not really important that you personally know it’s not the case for everyone else. I just point that out wherever I get an opening in the hopes the right people will see it. Like web developers

Not sure if it counts as novelty or not, but there’s... oh damn near everything by Miracle of Sound. I’m gonna arbitrarily decide “All As One” is his best work

I want to like that song so much, but I can’t get past “I ought to throw you to the whale.”

I just... can’t help but imagine that ship just has a whale in a tank somewhere on board for that exact function.

“If no official definition transpires, we could end up with one defined by courts and marketing executives instead of scientists.” ... Honestly, that’s still probably a better case than the FDA actually taking into consideration any of the comments they’re going to get.

I’ll happily go and tell them that it means

As a straight tribute to another specific sci-fi franchise, Redshirts probably fits the bill best:

Not only is it fantastic as a weird tribute song but, if I remember right (not in a place I can listen to it right now), it, like the song mentioned in the article description, is also hugely inaccurate.
