A few minutes perusing the settings and you'll find how to turn off notifications. Avast auto updates on my machines when it needs to and I never receive popups. It's one of the reasons I picked it for my users.

I've set Avast to give no notifications for the employees in my company. It updates automatically, and never gives any indication to my end users which is perfect for my Luddite cohorts. You just have to find the settings that do the same for you.

I'm an IT manager for a property mgmt company with properties across the US. We use Avast and I love its ease of use, customization, design, reliability, and I never notice it bogging down system resources. Great product!
