I hope what he meant is more "young girls need more heroes they can relate to in these toys" and less "girls get girl toys."

What you're missing is that many of them have also been complaining that the climactic scene didn't have much emotion or didn't have enough characters because it was improperly set up. They were annoyed at the whole episode taking place in that locale _because_ the writers had been avoiding it. By ignoring that…
