The first episode was a little tiresome in its checklist of topicality. I liked episode two more, but I'm still sensing that this is shaping into a science fiction BABEL.

America is a Revenge Culture.
I agree. We're not required to tolerate all speech. On the other point, yes, I wish people could take human complexity into account and remember that forgiveness used to be one of the things that defined the left.
^ Triggered.
Or worse, they say things like, "Just try to see this as a teachable moment." To which there's no proper response other than "Go fuck yourself."
Be honest, how many people do you know who can honestly think for themselves? Probably a handful. Most of them are push-button social reactionaries. They got their politics from Gawker writers being paid $100 per article. It's political change birthed from clickbait ad revenue.
Believe me, I'm one of the biggest defenders of Strange Days. It just seems it's been gaining in recognition and respect over the past several years, and isn't as underrated as it used to be.
Yup. And they weren't really very prominent in US households until the release of The Matrix on DVD in September 1999 (the same day Nine Inch Nails' The Fragile and Chris Cornell's Euphoria Morning CDs came out, for those into arcane release date stuff).
Under Siege 2 is almost as underrated as Strange Days. It's more streamlined and way more entertaining than the first.
Mehhh. They waver from periods of excitement to disinterest on Miller. It took a while for Babe 2 to get its due regard beyond a select few, and the maligned, brilliant Thunderdome is only just starting to gain respect.
Road Warrior may give a little more backstory, but Fury Road has as much plot and is deeper.
Armond White has championed Miller more consistently than most critics. We'll see what he says about this one.
The problem is that he's made into the villain. Syndrome is othered because he isn't born into privilege, and it ruins him.
Respect, but I really feel Totoro and Mononoke are the clear top two, though appreciation of Totoro is largely dependent on your emotional attachment to your own childhood.
AI and War of the Worlds are goddamn amazing!
I'm gonna assume this post is parody of the majority of dumb people on the internet, for which, it's dead-on and I up-voted.
Wilmore's show is fine. The panel format is cool, and I like that he tackles black topics more frequently. He's likeable, but his demeanour is VERY MILD, and the show is never that funny or exciting because of it.
I'm not cool with it, though. It's hackneyed writing and uninspired visual filmmaking.
I don't know. I think the dialogue is pretty much terrible here. ("Consult here or in my bungalow?" "That's not funny." "It's a little funny." No, it's not funny, and how is it even supposed to be funny?) But having said that, Howard's character is a lot more endearing than Pratt's in this clip, and I was on her side…
No.
