Correct. In fact i5's sometimes even perform better because some games do weird things with hyperthreading. Pound for pound, core for core, an i5 is just as powerful as an i7 if the software doesn't utilize hyperthreading.

For everyone who’s going to inevitably ask, no you do not NEED an i7 to max the game. i7's are being listed by developers because they need to over-exaggerate the specs or people with high powered rigs may run into one problem and throw a fit. MGSV and Fallout 4 also required an i7, and people have maxed the game out…
