Hey, there. I’m not going to get too far into a debate about this just because in my Kinja experience, it just leads to vaster polarization. I want to thank you for your reasonable tone, and just point out that Hezbollah is primarily active in Lebanon, and we’re speaking of Palestine.

Grotesque, but alarmingly typical.

I think you miss my point. I have no love for either the Puritans or the Boers: quite the contrary. But simply because one has endured persecution in one place is no guarantee that they will not inflict it in another was my point.

How does that functional government come into place with a literal military occupation going on?

Um, no. First of all, the BDS movement in Israel does have Israeli and Jewish groups behind it, and not because Israel is this free-speech haven you describe. In fact, some Israeli politicians have discussed targeted assassinations for prominent BDS heads. It isn’t mainstream by any means, and nor did I argue that.

I don't think this person deserves your thoughtful approach to dialogue, jinni. His rhetoric is as blatantly anti-Palestinian as it comes.

Your entire construction of the issue is utterly nauseating here. The outsized opposition to BDS is a good reason it needs to be pursued; it inflicts some measure of consequence to Israel’s authoritarian policies.

This statement is both grotesque and absurd. Bravo.

Exactly!  Those ungrateful Palestinians were treated so well, and so were just lashing out for no fucking reason.

The sad thing is, it’s among the easiest, least controversial plays in American politics. You will never get any real backlash shitting on Palestinians.

It no longer surprises me. The Puritans were escaping religious persecution when they participated in the genocide of the Native Americans. The Boers were a persecuted minority when they, too, ransacked southern Africa and so on. Trauma begets trauma.

That one hit me in the gut. And he cannot blame Palestine because there is no official such country; and were he to say ‘Palestine,’ it might even be a tacit admission that such a place exists. So he hits at Palestinians; some of the most dispossessed people on this earth.

Those damn Palestinians and their totally voluntary choice to... Uh, be from Palestine I guess?

I think the article is pointing out that financial difficulty does not mean that she lied about being raped. It’s not related.

Idk, a fictionalized account of your sex life seems like a pretty light punishment for someone who bombed 1,500 Serbian civilians and continues to defend her rapist husband. But maybe that’s just me!

Hillary fanfic. Kill me now lol

This was great to read. Beards are truly a land of contrasts. You have absolute control over whether or not you have one (unless you either can’t grow one or can’t avoid growing one,) how neat it looks (for like two days until every hair just decides to start sticking out whichever way it pleases,) what color it is

Jezebel isn’t leftist in the slightest, so there isn’t much shaming to be had here.

Cheers. One of my favorite movies of all time.

“The lights are growing dim Otto. I know a life of extraordinary privilege has led me to this sorry fate, and yet, I blame society. Society made me what I am.”
