I don’t think I was ever into Peanuts enough to appreciate the character tropes that Schultz was creating. Most of the Peanuts I was exposed to seemed short, simple and past its prime, so I didn’t read too deep into what was being said. Same for Garfield in that it never hit home with its seemingly repetitive writing

Wow, I knew Peanuts was forward thinking, but some of these strips are much more progressive than I would expect from an author born in the 20s. Peanuts really was ahead of its time.
