I guess the issue is that you have a very narrow definition of what being a good rapper is. It’s fine if that’s what you like, but it’s really dumb to make that the way you measure the quality of an artist.

I feel like everyone is overestimating how simple it is for teenagers to have honest sensible conversations with their parents about sex, drugs and parental spying.

The fact they didn’t (couldn’t) have that conversation is a feature of the episode, though, not a bug. Arkangel made all the talking that should have happened earlier unnecessary, so it was an undeveloped skill.

Arkangel prevented mom from ever learning how to parent and how to have that sort of conversation, so the fix isn;t that easy. It’s the same thing for parents who have au pairs and nannies raise their kid. They never learn to actually parent and thus never think of the “easy” solution.

Arkangel would sell like hotcakes. I have students who call to check on their 18 y/o kid’s grades and who ask to have copies of the syllabus and major assignments sent to them as well. Heck, we allow parents to check grades on a daily basis these days.
