I think Hollywood's (and culture, generally) peddling stories of redemptive violence have linked with the gun love to create ideas in many people's minds that not only are guns cool, but they can be necessary. Most people won't buy a gun because they're cool, they'll buy one…

I guarantee Netflix tracks whether a show gets unique or new viewers. If a show has a fan base but isn't drawing in new customers, no reason to keep it.
