I remember how Andrew and Fergie’s wedding didn’t have quite the pomp of Charles and Diana’s, so they will find a way. Number of guests, location, etc.

I feel like everyone should just pump the breaks when thinking of saying “at least it’s not...” or “thank god Celebrity Joe Doe isn’t like that” until at least a month has passed.
That’s gotta be a personality thing. My parents similarly grew up very very poor and neither one of them would ever do anything like this.
Absolutely agree. I wonder if anyone who works for Jezebel (or Fusion Media) actually grew up poor, or even knows someone who did.
I agree, I grew up poor and would have jumped at the chance to go to a school like UC Davis, would have been THRILLED, but instead worked full time, took all the classes I could from community colleges and graduated from Cal State Dominguez (or as it is more affectionately known “Cal State Compton”). This family…
I agree, and expressed similar sentiments downthread. A parent’s job is to meet at least the basics of their children’s needs, and no child asks to be born, so I don’t see where the mother character gets off on treating her daughter like shit for being a child with needs (a safe school).
I saw Greta Gerwig do a Q&A at film festival a few weeks ago and someone asked her why she elected to make Lady Bird’s / Saoirse Ronan’s skin look bad when the actor’s skin is so perfect irl and she said it’s because almost all teenagers have acne and they should see teenagers on the screen who have acne, too.
We are a long way from the days of the Medici’s. Rich people have, without a doubt, the worst taste on the planet.
Justin and Corey. Two very good dogs.
Maddy, First in the Corgi/Mini-Aussie Class, loving herding camp:
We only have cats but here is a wonderful dog I met in Brooklyn.
And what did you do with that knowledge or tell them to do with it?
I agree with this. Like I said, I think it’s natural for people to feel sympathy for a friend, even if the friend is 100% in the wrong and brought their problems upon themselves. So there’s no sense in going out of the way to seek out their thoughts, and their views shouldn’t be viewed as definitive.
All of this. It’s all reprehensible and needs to stop, but indeed, we can’t paint all of these things with the same brush. If this continues to happen, the blowback is going to be horrible, and nothing will get any better.
Regarding Al Franken: His actions were horrible, but at what point do we can we stop painting everyone with the same brush? He was a comedian, albeit one that I never found particularly funny. He’s clearly joking in the one picture that I saw, and grabbing someone’s butt during a photo in the past sounds like a…
I didn’t think he needed to GTFO last week, now I’m a more attuned to the idea. What really needs to stop is the idea that there’s no point in discussion, that this one way is the only right way to approach this. That’s going to kill us more than anything else. Can we all just fucking admit we don’t have the answer?…
I won’t make any excuses for him, but I also don’t think every offense requires resignation as the only possible punishment. Have the Senate censure him so that he has a public black mark for eternity, let him do acts of contrition, and then let the voters of Minnesota decide next election cycle if they want him or…
I’ve been waiting for someone to post a pet thread but I’m too impatient ;p
I don’t mind that she doesn’t believe it happenef, but a public show of support was an idiotic move. Let the investigation unfurl, support him as a friend during it. What does going public help? It makes it about you. Unless she has proof to bring to light, which she should do then.
Because they’re nice people; Jim and Pam are jerks.
