Ditto. I’m gonna revisit Wakanda for the 4th time and watch from Lupita’s point of view.

There’s more of that happening now. I think Viola and Lupita are doing a mom-daughter film, and Lupita is making the film of Trevor Noah’s Born a Crime. And Michael “Bae” Jordan and Ryan (and, I hope, Tessa) are making Creed 2! *jumps around* And meanwhile, Janelle and Tessa are making some videos…
I’m just here to say that even without context (which is how I entered the thread), this is both the best and funniest movie review I have ever had the fortune to read.
the femme fatale (colour seems to be optional here), the white badass doesn’t need any male female (new to the stage), the white (fe)male savior, and the high IQ white kid that solves everything)
I believe we are of the same mindset in that.

3x so far. And, ready player one.. sorry but it looks like Stephen’s all white homage to whiteness, again. No thanks.
“Ready Player One” looks terrible in the same vein as “Blade Runner 2049". I’m not interested in another whitewashed future dystopia. RPO is more of the same sh!t about how only cisgender White males can own fandom, and I hope it flops hard.
Hollywood loves successful movies.. but they love successful movies that fit within a mold they are comfortable with. When things outside of that mold happen, they freak out. And women as actual humans (not as extensions of Men), and Black people as again, adults, not needing to be rescued by some outsider or as a sex…
Correction.. Hollywood hates New that doesn’t involve their typical cast of characters (the dead black man (aka canon fodder), the magical negro, the femme fatale (colour seems to be optional here), the white badass doesn’t need any male female (new to the stage), the white (fe)male savior, and the high IQ white kid…
This reminds me of when Sherrilyn Ifill had to put that whiny Atlantic columnist in his place
The reason a lot of these films won’t be successful is not Black Panther but, rather, what Black Panther represents: something new.

Haters gonna hate?
White people get extremely butt hurt over anything that does not center whiteness especially if it is successful. What is the cause of this hysterical group think? I guess being historically in charge of everything for centuries does not teach sharing. Oh those poor other movies. What to do. What an idiot!
What I’m essentially getting from his take is that Hollywood for decades have been typecasting and regulating black actors to secondary and tertiary roles because they were afraid whites couldn’t measure up.

Jenee’s comment is the mic drop. There’s really no other argument needed. Did he complain about those movies too? No? Hmm... what could make Black Panther different... can’t figure it out...
