What BMW offers with MINI, albeit at a high price, is a small car outfitted nicely.

The manual literally showed a motorway symbol next to the setting.
On my second trip to Spain with my family in the 80s, we had one of these as a rental car. I got to drive it a couple of times and I’ll say this: the idea of the hydropneumatic suspension was better than the reality, although it did provide an incredible ride. Where it fell down was on the motorway...literally. There…
Zack, you’re using “car guy” logic when, in reality, we’re talking about “not a car guy trying to impress people, mostly women, who are also not car guys”, in which case, branding is everything. To non-car people the Stinger says “This is a decent looking sensible car from a brand best known for being cheap and having…
First visit was paperwork. Second was delivery. Time in between was “prep”.
Kia vs BMW? 😂
About 15 years ago, I moved from California to Connecticut. We had two cars, a 5 year old Jetta and a 2 year old Silverado HD. Although we had professional movers, there were still quite a few things that we loaded into the truck, along with the cats and a dog. But we didn’t love the Jetta and we were expecting…
There are valid reasons to change cars, like “I have a full size pickup that I don’t need and which gets crap mileage, so I’m trading it in for a CR-V.” but the idea of trading a Kia with a warranty for an older BMW without one says “I have this objectively good car that’s not flash enough for me, so I want one that’s…
It’s funny that deep blue New York has an inspection regime setup to fleece people by having repair shops and dealers conduct the inspections, not to mention private tow companies enforcing laws like vehicular bounty hunters, but barely purple Colorado has government owned and operated emissions testing facilities…
I’ll second that. My dad is passionate about cars in general, and especially about F1. Hell, he even worked for GM for 50 years. When he was a teenager, he could swap an engine on a 1949 Chevy in about 2 hours. But I wouldn’t let him anywhere near my car’s mechanical bits today, when he’s 82, or even 30 years at 52,…
Other than the OG Saga, I can’t really ID any Protons reliably, as I’ve never lived anywhere they’re sold and, across the board, they’re anonymous looking.
Fair. Also, like the LFA, even collectively, they represent a minuscule percentage of Lexus’ sales. The RX and NX crossovers together sell more units than every other Lexus model combined, including the insipid ES, the third best selling Lexus.
Is that the mighty Proton Perdana? 😂
I will say that the revisions made, ostensibly by Lotus, to the Gen 1 Impulse were amazing, especially since that car shared its basic architecture with the Chevette.
I mean, that sounds like Lexus too. Aside from things like the LFA, Lexus buyers don’t actually like cars. They want comfy appliances that don’t make them think or work.
Yes, although around here (Denver) quite a few lots have angled parking on two way lanes, so pulling through doesn’t place one against the flow of traffic.
Everything is bigger in Texas.
Wait, how has nobody mentioned Buc-ee’s?
Only if you bring in new ones. 💡
I think there’s a very small niche for someone that’s familiar with these to create a business updating/restomodding 25 year old Ladas, sort of like what’s been done with Land Rovers and Minis for years.
