Again...never had a problem. There were some issues with the 1st generation ones behind V6s. My 2006 Murano had one of those early CVTs and Nissan amended the warranty to 200,000 miles as part of a settlement. As it turned out, by 2006-2007, the issues had been addressed apparently, as I sold my 2006 in 2012 with

I’m not gonna lie, I’ve had four different Nissans with CVTs now and they’ve all been pretty OK. The fours get kinda loud, but so have the fours in my manual cars when I ran ‘em up to redline. With a V6, I’ve found the CVTs to be excellent, with smooth and linear power delivery, no clunkiness, and great economy.

Exactly...the idea that a road or fuel tax is regressive is a red herring designed to shut down debate. There are tons of ways to avoid making the tax a burden on poor people driving to work/school/etc.

Only slightly facetious rant follows:

Well, it’s not as if Hyundai needed to launch two premium marques when one would have done. And, being a Korean company with a long history of firing their best American talent when they wouldn’t tow the line, I’ll bet this decision was made in the great chaebol tradition of putting pride and hubris ahead of business

This is a prime example of why Hyundai needed to start a new channel for their premium vehicles. I’d actually love to have a Stinger GT, but I ran the configurator, and there’s no way I’d consider a $50k Kia.

Already partially digested food (aka vomit) is always the worst.

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again. The system is f—-ed up and the correct response to a broken system is to refuse to comply.

American manufacturing can be saved only by shifting from employer provided healthcare to a single payer system with cost controls.

None at all. Most of the service parts are shared across multiple GM models.

I hear the pony trekking is awesome.

Back in the day, I was a (junior) Taco Bell executive. Because we were in the same employee pool as people making minimum wage in restaurants, I was classified as a “highly compensated employeee”, and so I didn’t get matching on my 401k, even though I made less than many of my peers in other industries.

Yeah. My wife works for a large tech company and gets preferential supplier pricing from GM, Ford, and VW (?!?).

Now playing

I’ll take your Phillip, add some Bailey’s, and give you this....

I feel like Hyundai has missed a giant opportunity not launching the Genesis and cars like this Stinger under a different banner than Kia and Hyundai.

You’d have to load the cargo area with Viagra for this to give me wood.

FCA Jeeps are so much better than Chrysler LLC or Daimler-Chrysler era Jeeps. They’re still shitty though.

It’s an AWD system from the factory, but it’s easy as pie to swap in an S-10’s transfer case for regular lockable 4WD.

When operating properly, they’re very comfortable. Plus they reek of DILLIGAF.
