Oh man I get this all the time. I always likened it to getting shot. There's a loud "bang!" and you jolt awake. The sensation is actually similar to falling to your death in a dream, where your stomach drops out and suddenly you snap awake.

I prefer to look at it like this: These games can exist alongside games for people whose tastes are probably not aligned with this sort of thing. That's okay! In fact, that's good. This is (easily) the most violent game in the entire very violent series from what I can tell, and it's a game that got made at a time…
QA Manager here, confirming. Can't tell you how often this conversation has happened:
Studio Head: "Man this is awful, why didn't your team catch this?"
Me: "We did. Bug #<whatever>."
SH: "It was entered three days before shipping!"
Me: "That's because it only showed up three days before shipping. We're not fucking…
Great writeup!
I have a lot of discussions with my team about which games you need to play to be "literate" in videogames, and I remember one of them asked me what I thought was "the most important, not necessarily the best" game was so far in history, and my answer was Doom. Most of them were pretty surprised, but we…
Alright fine Jesus I'll buy it EVEN THOUGH I'M FINALLY GETTING BLOODBORNE TODAY god dammit Jason
Mine was getting started in the first place.
Corporate culture would demand a lot of front-facing gymnastics if Kojima and the higher-ups at Konami had a permanent falling out. They can't just say "Kojima and Sakamoto be beefin'", but at the same time if the mandate from on high was to cut Kojima out of the system ASAP (which sure as hell looks to be the…
If anyone's on the fence about this because everyone keeps crowing about the difficulty: Don't be.
Super happy that crappy line got cut. I really loved the DMC reboot, but my first time through it I remember hearing that and rolling my eyes. Wasn't enough to stop me from enjoying the game, but it did shove that scene over the edge into "trying too hard" territory.
Aaaand this is why I will never self-identify as a Male Feminist.
Yes. Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes.
(Crossposting this from a reply I made to this subject on Kotaku, but:)
Jeez these comments are kinda depressing.
So, here's something kinda weird: I've had a near death experience. Had it when I was a teenager. Got brought back. I am not religious at all; I still tend to pause a bit when people assure me that there's no afterlife whatsoever and it's just a cut to black and that's it because man, lemme tell ya, when you die? You…
I decided to watch this at work and the look on my face was sufficient to prompt one of my co-workers to ask if I'd just shit myself. /highfive
If you want to consider the manga as canon (which is debatable), Ridley's a "he". He also talks quite a bit in it and is shown to be quite intelligent, which makes sense given his backstory as a Space Pirate leader figure; weird thing is, they really don't even show this in the games. He just kinda screeches and flies…
That's...Actually the best explanation for this I've ever heard.
I still can't quite get my head around the Australian-Olds concept that videogames are something targeted at kids and that's it, despite all the pushback from seemingly everyone under the age of 60 in the country about it.
For the small subset of people whose consoles routinely experience a large amount of physical abuse I'd say this is a pretty good tradeoff, yeah.
Loader Bot needs his own spinoff DLC.
