Might be because he left used condoms in his co-stars dressing room and pretty much went full-out any-non-actor-would-be-in-jail-and-sued weirdo for this movie. (But, actually, only his bizarre creepy antics on this movie has gotten him bad press around here. They mostly used to love him. Also, you are talking to an

Yes... by other men. Most often written, produced, and directed... by other men. Aimed primarily at a demographic composed of... men. See, the who and the why on the delivering end are important, too.

Similarly, when women are objectified and brutalised in film, it is most often by men, and/or for the purpose of

Irrational? I had no qualms with the guy, before, but his way of “getting into character” involves harassing his costars in gross and creepy. Costars who, coincidentally, did not have to do so to get into character. So far, I’m not seeing Leto’s performance being lauded as the standout, in this movie. Maybe there are

Jared Leto is the kind of asshole who warned the wardrobe department “look out girls, I’m in character all the time!” Stuff your goddamn Method acting where the sun don’t shine, and stop harrassing people who are just trying to do their job like professionals. THAT is why Jared Leto is an asshole.

A lot of us did not like his on-set harassment of his fellow actors in the name of method acting. Like sending them dead rats and shit. Most of us still hoped the film would do well though because of Margot playing Harley and Viola Davis as the amazing Amanda Waller.

No one gives a shit when men are punched in the face and choked.

Jared Leto isn’t awful because he’s a man. Jared Leto is awful because he chooses to be.

go grab a juice, honey.

Sure it is. I’ve never seen you, and I already dislike you intensely.

And rape, domestic violence, and murder as the impetus for character development is actually a well-known phenomena in comics (and with the rise of comics-as-movies, film) known as “women in refrigerators”:

I loved it. It was one of the best movies I saw in theatres all year. Sadly the theatre wasn’t even half full.

I personally enjoyed it a LOT. I think every single actor was really good in it, especially Chris Hemsworth. McCarthy was good, but I personally think Kate McKinnon’s my favorite Ghostbuster.

It’s possible for people to like a movie that features women characters, and dislike movies that feature Jared Leto. Stranger things have happened.

Media never shows women being brutalised? What? You’ve clearly never watched any movie or tv show ever.

There’s usually no creepy sexual undertone when a man is being punched in the face and choked.

If you’re referring to Ghostbusters, the movie isn’t going to make back the money of production and marketing costs. So yeah, it unfortunately seems to be a flop. Which sucks because I thoroughly enjoyed it (teared up at times for nostalgic reasons) and would have liked a sequel.

Why do women need to be repeatedly punched in the face at all for any laughs?

Right, but I’m not talking about myself here- I’m critiquing the way you’re approaching Jezebel’s descriptions here. Jezebel’s stance isn’t that Ghostbusters is good simply because it has women in it, it’s good because it’s well written. The critics aren’t saying Suicide Squad is bad because it DOESN’T have women in

Nope, because typically they’re not just recovering from being drowned.
