This is the most brilliant idea ever because it’s EXACTLY how I have felt for years regarding battery standards and swapping stations. I wish I could buy you a beer for being so smart.

If you are 3 hours south of Detroit, why do you use Detroit as a reference? You’d be in a completely different state! You’d be better saying your just outside of Cleveland or something. And metro Detroit is around $0.50 higher than you. Wherever you are, you have pretty cheap gas!
I do not believe people anywhere in the US are currently paying $4-5/gallon. If prices rose to $4-6 a gallon I bet that would get people to change their habits in a hurry! $8-10 would cripple us.

Oh, if he (she?) wants to get in, locked doors ain’t gonna stop him (her?).
Nope. Nuclear sub or aircraft carrier. 20+ year fuel life. Plus it gets you away from land.
As I mentioned elsewhere for this reason, a nuclear powered sub or aircraft carrier. 20 or more years between ROH (refuel and overhaul). Plus safety from all the nutjobs erradicating themselves on land.
Nuclear powered Aircraft Carrier. 20 (or more) years between refueling and overhaul. Or maybe a nuclear powered Submarine. No one on land could bother me. Just collect enough canned goods (plus there is probably a ton already on the ship), a couple fishing poles and some buckets to collect rain water and just bide my…
