The uproar over this feels so much like a double standard. It’s ok to turn down a hug. Can you imagine if an unknown man approached a starlet on the red carpet and repeatedly asked for a hug while the starlet repeatedly declined politely? We’d be talking about a man’s assumption that he can touch whomever he wants.

As much as I wanted to drink in how out of his mind he sounded, I am genuinely having a hard time laughing. That sounded like dementia. He conflated two separate investigations and kept mixing up names. It was really concerning.

It tolls for thee.... We have opened the door for protest to shut down speech, discourse, art, writing, etc. When you allow it to happen to others you allow it to happen to yourself. This is a natural consequence of progressivism.

I completely agree. And as I responded to someone else, it is irrelevant if the artist is OK with removing the installation. Once an artist creates a work, their opinion should no longer matter. There are tons of examples of artists who “regretted” some of the greatest works in history.

Yeah but people feel like they “know” her. She’s less anonymous. It makes sense to focus your sympathy on someone that feels more tangible. People do it all the time. Do you really think that people saying pray for Ariana aren’t concerned with everyone else? I think a more generous reading is warranted.
