Well that’s frustrating, I was expecting the tow rating to rise when they added it to the US option sheet.  With that much torque it must be down to the suspension architecture why we can’t pull anything of size.

I think you would be hard pressed to get comparative performance out of anything that doesn’t add 200 lbs to the engine bay. Outside of LT motors (which do fantastic under boost) there really isn’t a motor manufacturer that isn’t putting the boost on their best engines.

Its totally unfair by pointing to the company that has arguably the two most impressive engines in cars today as a metric to be shamed by. Honda is killing it with their engines but the 2.5T Mazda has is still more than midpack.

As an owner of a 2010 Mazda3 hatch with the 6 speed, my wife and potential other money pit would need something to ride around in that can also tow the miata my Father in Law is giving me.
