Well YMMV but Mirena is a hormonal birth control so chemically you are talking something very very similar to existing pill. However as others have noted not all women can take the pill, patch, injection, implant, ring, or hormone infused IUD’s.

Yeah I have lots of close friends who prefer the copper IUD because you side step the many ways hormonal birth control can have big impacts.
