Haha, the thing is they really weren’t! Prime Minister John Howard went on to be our longest serving (or 2nd longest?) PM - the Port Arthur massacre was in ‘96; he was in office until 2007. Unfortunately the rest of his term consisted of bullshit conservatism 101 but at least he got it right on guns.
